Financial insecurity threatens arts festival

An excerpt from the Weekend Post – One of Plettenberg Bay’s flagship festivals is in doubt amidst financial turbulence facing the town’s tourism body.

For the past two years, Plett Tourism has been operating on a stop-start basis as it battled budget cuts and rising promises, said Plett Tourism Chairman, Peter Wallington.

This, he said, was “being exacerbated by ongoing uncertainty as to our future.” Plett Tourism said that it might have to cancel the upcoming Plett ARTS Festival if no funding was forthcoming from the Bitou Municipality…
