Visitors to the Garden Route over the Easter weekend will be able to join the Hi-Tec Garden Route Walking Festival, an annual hiking event for the whole family.
The biggest walking festival of its kind in the Southern hemisphere, the event offers 50 different walks between Mossel Bay and Nature’s Valley from April 19 to 22.
Walks are led by volunteers and professional walking guides, and explore off-the-beaten-track trails and unusual spots, from local townships to the highest peaks in the region.
New walks are on offer this year, including the three Beach Clean-Up Walks, a Tree Planting Walk, and the Gruffalo Adventure for kids. Firm favourites are still in place including the Tidal Pool Meander, Giraffe Viewing Walks, Oystercatcher Trail, Kids Pirate Walk, and the Secret Elephants Experience.
The majority of walks are free to join, but some have a guiding or permit fee attached. Funds raised from the festival go to conservation projects on the Garden Route.
