Samara Private Game Reserve – a Big 5 game reserve in the Great Karoo – is offering a Winter special from 1 June – 31 August 2019, whereby guests stay for 4 nights, but only pay for 3 – equivalent to 25% off their stay.
Samara is a passionate conservation undertaking. Four vegetation biomes provide habitat for over 60 mammal species, including: lion, elephant, cheetah, black and white rhino, buffalo, Cape mountain zebra, giraffe, eland, gemsbok and aardvark to name but a few.
Winter-time is the ideal season in which to relax into the Karoo frame of mind. Mild, sunny days provide optimal walking temperatures as well as unique opportunities for daylight sightings of the elusive (and usually nocturnal) aardvark.
Winter offers somewhat more accessible game-viewing as this is the dry season when wildlife
gathers at the waterholes. It is also a photographer’s paradise: the early afternoon sunlight at a lower angle in the sky is simply spectacular, and the snow-capped mountain peaks beyond Samara provide an ethereal backdrop.
A maximum of 26 guests stay in two, five-star luxury lodges: Karoo Lodge – a renovated farmstead overlooking an amphitheatre of mountains and The Manor – a luxury villa with private pool, chef, butler and ranger that can be booked exclusively or by private individuals.
Activities on offer at Samara include game drives, guided walks, a luxury star bed experience, wilderness picnics, birding, mountain hikes, indoor and outdoor dining, mountain biking and conservation activities. Children of all ages are welcome and a dedicated children’s programme is available.
Situated approximately 270km from Port Elizabeth and 53km from the nearest town of Graaff Reinet, Samara offers easy access to visitors on excellent roads. For more information, visit http://www.samara.co.za or call 031 262 0324.
