The residents are part of a pilot project where they received composting bins and worm farming bins to start off.
Work on the repair section will continue tomorrow with excavation and then import of suitable material from Thursday.
George Municipality has with the aid of provincial funding, handed over 418 houses in the Thembalethu Upgrading of Informal Settlements Programme (UISP) since late last year to residents and another 282 houses of the total 700 houses are in various stages of construction and have been awarded to various contractors.
