StreetSmart SA is an organisation dedicated towards helping street children rebuild their lives through public donations with the support of a network of restaurants, accommodation establishments, and wine tasting centres throughout the Western Cape and Gauteng.
StreetSmart SA is a registered Public Benefit Organisation as well as a Non-Profit Organisation and funds are primarily raised by participating restaurants, accommodation establishments, and wine tasting centres, adding a voluntary R5 donation to the bill. Every cent raised in this way goes towards social and educational upliftment projects for street children. The organisation was set up by a group of concerned Capetonians under the patronage of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and comprises resourceful board members representing business and the hospitality and tourism industries. Similar StreetSmart organisations also run independently throughout the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Vancouver and the Netherlands.
