Multiple interventions underway to address pollution

Authorities in Knysna including SANParks, the Garden Route District Municipality, the Knysna Municipality, the Breede-Gouritz Catchment Management Agency, have instituted multiple interventions to probe and address sources of pollution in South Africa’s number 1 biodiverse waterbody, the Knysna Estuary.

Rotary sponsors pop-up museums for local schools and libraries

The Rotary Club of Knysna last Thursday (16 May) handed 15 sets of posters – each of which forms a ‘pop-up museum’ about Knysna’s timber heritage – to representatives of the the town’s libraries and high schools.

Aids Candlelight Memorial Day

Yesterday’s Aids Candlelight Memorial Day hosted by the George Municipality and held at Unity Park during a warm winter’s Sunday afternoon proved to be an enjoyable event with a gospel vibe which had those attending singing along and clapping.

SWD announces replacements for Pienaar & Piedt

SWD’s premier batsman for the past two seasons, Obus Pienaar, has signed a one-year franchise contract with the VKB Knights (Central franchise). Their main strike-bowler, Marcello Piedt, who was on loan with the Multiply Titans earlier this season when he represented them in the Momentum One Day Cup also entered a contract with the Pretoria-based franchise for next season.

The South Western Districts Cricket Umpires Awards function for the 2018/19 season was held at the SP Swigelaar Hall at the SWD offices on Saturday.
