Juggling work, studies and personal life can become challenging. It’s important to not be so busy with “life” that you forget to live.
So why not plan a trip with all your friends, hire a kombi to fit all of you, split the costs and go on the adventure of a lifetime? Whether it’s a couple of hours to a big city or a cross country road trip with no destination, make sure it’s a trip that you will never forget.
Chanele van Tonder, Firefly’s marketing executive, and her team composed a list of the best places to wander to in South Africa to make your journey exceptional. Here are the top choices:
Abseiling down Table Mountain in Cape Town. This flat-topped mountain has one of the most scenic views in the world, and you can also abseil into vertical space at 1000 metres above sea level. Fun fact, this is the world’s highest commercial abseiling point. You are surrounded by breathtaking views and the deep blue Atlantic at your feet.
Make your way over to Ceres to zip-line over one of the country’s most picturesque towns with rocky mountains and farms all around. Prepare yourself for the slide of a lifetime as you glide over the Koekedouw River and between the rocky Skurweberg mountain range.
From here on you can take the drive to Gansbaai where you can cage dive with one of the most feared predators on earth. Great White sharks can grow up to 3 m long and are very curious, so you will get all close up and personal with these beauties when they come to check you out. And you do not have to be scared or worried, it’s very safe.
Don’t miss out on the beautiful Klein Karoo, where you can see the astonishing Cango Caves, situated at the foot of the Swartberg mountains, near Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape. You can choose from, the “standard tour” and the “adventure tour”, we highly recommend the latter! The Cango Caves are located on a limestone belt which is 1,5 km wide and almost 16 km long. The limestones were formed by chemical processes approximately 750 million years ago. Now that’s a piece of history you don’t want to miss!
Knysna is known for oysters, stunning homes and the massive lagoon. Snorkel amongst pint-sized seahorses when you take the less than 2 hour drive to Knysna from Oudtshoorn. Situated on the banks of the famous Knysna lagoon lies a warm water estuary that is home to these mythical looking creatures.
End your trip with a visit to the Tsitsikamma Bloukrans Bungee Bridge and get ready for a rush of pure adrenaline as you plunge more than 650 feet down towards the river below. You will be very secure in a full body harness as well as an ankle connection for safety. But it’s promised to be one of the best experiences of your life.
