Catalysts to stimulate the economy in the Western Cape will be the main focus of the AHI Western Cape’s annual congress early September in Velddrif.
More than 5 000 businesses in nearly 50 regional business chambers are members of the AHI Western Cape (the Afrikaanse Handelsinstituut) who go above and beyond to ensure sustainable economic growth with their annual congress.
Dr Willie Cilliers, AHI Western Cape CEO, said the congress speakers are industry experts who will share their valuable experience with the audience.
Hosted by the Velddrif Business Chamber, the gala evening takes place on Thursday, 5 September and the congress on Friday, 6 September at the Riviera Hotel in Velddrif. The theme is “Weskus is Lekker”.
Christo van der Rheede, Deputy Executive Director of Agri SA, is the guest speaker at the gala event during which the Business Chamber of the Year, Emerging Business Chamber of the Year, Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year and Small Business Beginner Entrepreneur of the Year will be announced. Professor Frederick Fourie, professor of economics at the University of the Free State, opens the congress on Friday with the spotlight on new economic realities.
Cornie Swart, president of Agri Western Cape, will concentrate on agriculture as an economic catalyst and Monika de Jager, manager of the Namaqua West Coast Tourism, will lead the discussion on tourism as an economic catalyst.
André Diederichs, founder and CEO of FABASA (Family Business Association of South Africa) will talk about family businesses.

Volhoubare ekonomiese groei onder loep by AHI Wes-Kaap kongres
Katalisators om die ekonomie in die Wes-Kaap te stimuleer is vanjaar onder die vergrootglas by die AHI Wes-Kaap se jaarkongres wat vroeg in September op Velddrif plaasvind.
