Every year Klawer Wine Cellar celebrates Heritage Day in a unique way.
A special Heritage braai competition takes place at this cellar, situated in the beautiful valley between Clanwilliam and Vanrhynsdorp. This popular competition, presented for the fourth time this year, annually attracts brilliant braaiers from all over the region that challenges each other for bragging rights.
This event on Saturday, 21 September, includes several activities aimed to entertain friends and family of the contestants as well as visitors to the cellar. The Rugby World Cup rugby match between South Africa and New Zealand will be shown on a big screen for all the rugby fans. The country pop duo Die Wildberries will delight guests with their cheerful music.
“Twenty teams challenge each other for a big cash prize as well as other prizes in the braai competition. We supply loads of entertainment and supporters, friends and the rest of the folks normally just enjoy this special day with us in a happy and laid-back way,” Franci Nortje, PRO and tasting specialist at the Klawer Wine Cellar explains.
Nortje added: “We try to keep the small ones as much entertained as possible, to give the moms and dads a little bit of freedom to enjoy their day. We usually have a spit braai for those not competing in the braai competition for when hunger strikes.”
