Constantia Glen TWO 2018 has triumphed as one of only five white Bordeaux-style blends rated ‘wine of the year’ in Tim Atkin’s 2019 South Africa Special Report. All four Constantia Glen signature wines broke the venerable 90 point barrier in this highly respected annual report.
With 95/100 for the third consecutive vintage, the Constantia Glen TWO 2018 is one of the elite South African wines that Atkin believes can compare with the best of any other wine-producing country. He describes the wine as a “wood and clay amphorae-fermented cuvée” that is “complex with a long, zesty finish”.
The other Constantia Glen wines applauded by Atkin are the flagship red blends, Constantia Glen FIVE 2015 and Constantia Glen THREE 2016 both scoring 93 points. He describes the FIVE as “another impressive red from Justin van Wyk”, while referring to the THREE as “elegant and graceful”. The “sappy, fresh and crisp” Constantia Glen Sauvignon Blanc 2019 was awarded a rating of 90 points.
Atkin, a British Master of Wine and accomplished wine commentator with over 30 years’ experience, has extensive knowledge when it comes to South African wines. He tasted over 2 100 local wines for his 2019 report, now in its seventh year and his most comprehensive to date. The wines are rated according to the international 100-point system.
These acclaimed Constantia Glen wines are all available directly from the estate, as well as fine dining restaurants and boutique wine shops.
