Torpedo Flow, your ticket into the wildly cool sport of SwimRun.
Next weekend is the second Torpedo Wild. A 26km SwimRun through iconic Garden Route rivers, trails and lakes. It’s beautiful but tough – healthy hardship at it’s best. Held on the same weekend and at the same campsite as Wild, are the easy alternatives called Torpedo Prologue and Flow.
Two more easy SwimRuns
To attract new athletes into the sport of SwimRun, we are hosting ‘experience’ SwimRuns on both Friday 13 and Saturday 14 September. You can enter either event separately or go large and do both. With beginner-friendly routes, the events are “graded blue” which means that you can enter as an individual and wetsuits are not compulsory. You are however welcome to link up with friends and participate together and wear wetsuits if you prefer.
Torpedo Prologue – 6km
The Friday afternoon SwimRun is called the Torpedo Prologue and is 6km all within South African National Parks. The route starts and finishes from Ebb and Flow North campsite. You will be participating in the same Prologue route as the athletes racing Torpedo Wild, so it is a good test to see how your fitness compares.
It’s going to be wildly festive
All entrants to Flow (and Wild) receive free access to Ebb and Flow North campsite. You are welcome to bring your friends and family and all camp at the race village at Ebb and Flow North. There will be food trucks, coffee, Cape Brewing Company cold beers for athletes and live bands to entertain. It’s going to be festive in Wilderness – just bring your camping equipment.
Torpedo Flow – 10km
The Saturday afternoon SwimRun is called Torpedo Flow and is just 10km from Ebb and Flow campsite to Wilderness beach and back. The runs and swims are broken down into achievable segments and are doable for those looking to experience this new and exciting sport.
We have made the start time 3pm, which allows you to watch the Torpedo Wild in the morning before your event. On reaching the sea, there is no sea swim, just a dunk into the water and out.
Entertainment is live
On Saturday evening after Torpedo Flow (and Wild) there will be a celebration and prize-giving at Ebb and Flow North. Our partners from SND Productions will entertain you with a live band, Rebel Remedy, and food trucks will be on site. For both the Friday and Saturday nights, entrants into the races receive free camping and access for themselves, friends and family.
Each race is R295, or both for R500, inclusive of camping. For more details click enter Torpedo Prologue and Flow.
