Thursday Morning Edition

Good morning all,

WRAP

The Kaaimans railway bridge is named a Heritage Landmark.  George Mayors says repairs to the burst pipeline over the Kaaimans will take longer to repair than originally thought.  Plans for a new library in Rose Valley, Oudtshoorn coming along.  You’re invited to participate in the second Adventures Garden Route Indaba & Expo as well as to join the Disabled Road Race Foundation which organizes the OCC.  Major acknowledgment for The Plettenberg.  All the latest from Plett Tourism.

The Fed is scraping the barrel looking for excuses not to lower the rate and dampen the Trump economy.  ‘Gloves off’ is a good description of where the impeachment thing is at.  China flexing its muscles in the American culture – expecting a reaction from Trump soon – he’s already warned US businesses to start looking elsewhere.  Trump defends his decision to withdraw from Syria – personally I think it was a master-stroke – it’s forced the other players to face each other as they all have competing objectives in the area.  Biden joins the impeachment chorus – guess he has no option.

Ramaphosa backs Mboweni’s plan – but how much support will he get?  SARS & Treasury understaffed – not the place to cut spending.  Treasury sets out conditions for the ESKOM bailout.  Surve blames Gordhan for the raid on his offices.  SABC claims a significant increase in news viewership – but is that just propaganda?

JSE down but business sentiment is up.  BoE beginning to accept Libra?

Mourinho eyes Spurs job.  Proteas want to throw the first punch in the second test.  Wales and Australia go through to the playoffs.
