Thursday Morning Edition

Good morning all,

WRAP

The George Mayor visits Diepkloof Primary to greet the new learners.

Fancourt remains the best golf course in the country and 19’th in the world.  The Knysna Bull defending champions will be back for this year’s race.  The REC will play host to a televised cricket match on 2 February.  SWD mourn the passing of one of its longest-serving umpires.  Both the senior men’s’ and women’s teams have fixtures this weekend.

Putin does what Putin does – let’s see what he has in mind.  Oh hell!  I was amused by the two candidates up for election in the US 3 years ago, but this bunch the Dems have put up!  No wonder they’re going so hard at impeachment – this lot are useless!  Another vote in the house along party lines, but at least the article of impeachment will go to the Senate.  So Adam Schiff will lead the Dems’ effort in the Senate – I wonder if he can be called as a witness now?  The trial will likely begin next Tuesday.  Iran is still being belligerent – I guess it will take a change of leadership for them to come to the table, this lot will go to the grave with their beliefs.

The right to leave your money to whomever you like will be tested by the ConCourt.  Big business and the SOE’s poised to bleed jobs.  Eskom gets a new chair, but will the Board back him?  The fight to unseat Ramaphosa intensifies.  Why not let Thuli Madonsela lead the land-theft scam – maybe we won’t end up battling this in court once it’s been shoved through.  Zondo Commission may be extended until December – as long as it takes in my opinion.

The US and China sign the first of many trade deals – and the world breathes a sigh of relief – and good news for the Rand.  Thank goodness for Nersa, but Eskom needs to start collecting what’s owed to it.  Business has gotten to the pleading stage – we need leadership Mr President – and get rid of the deadwood.

Faf is happy with the Proteas’ progress.  Federer and Nadal pledge money to the bushfires.  ‘Boks nominated for Laureus team of the year.  Gans will lead the Blitzbokke down under.  Faf keen to get AB back for the T20 World Cup – but we only have 11 matches before the tournament.
