Local retiree helps community one stitch at a time

Retiree at Groenkloof Retirement Village (George), Amanda Barnard, stitches face masks to hand over to the local medical professionals taking care of the community during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Given the current situation with the national state of lockdown and the growing number of infections, which has increased in the Western Cape during the last week, everyone has done their part with the stay-home initiative.

Staying home results in idle hands and new initiatives, stitching homemade face masks will enable medical professionals and caregivers to assist the community in the fight of infections.

Prior to the Covid-19 breakout, Amanda was assisting shelters and homes with stitching her t-shirt dresses for abused girls of various ages.

Her brightly coloured facemasks will be handed to those in need.
