From 4 to 15 November The Suidoosterfees and Atlantic Studios will be reviving the classic drive-in theatre. Audiences will be able to view music and theatre shows from the safety and comfort of their cars in a spacious drive-in area.

PJ Powers in concert with theTygerberg-Children`s Choir – Saturday 14 November.
Three of these festival show are big music productions, featuring some of South Africa`s most legendary artists. The shows will be performed live on stage with excellent sound and lighting and to make sure that you experience it to the max, the performances will also be projected onto a big screen. Concertgoers will be able to experience the performance in the comfort of their cars by tuning in on a FM radio frequency. Music lovers, save these dates, to come and enjoy the best of the best in local music. The charm of the feel of an actual drive-in theatre will make this a completely new and therefore unforgetable experience. The drive-in events will comply with the national health and safety regulations in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic.

South Africa`s biggest rockstar Francois van Coke, teams up with the popular Afrikaans rapper Early B to bring you an incredible performance. These two artists are both renowned for their spectacular live shows. Early B is well-known for his ability to string words together faster than one can think is even possible and together with van Coke`s charismatic rock persona, this is a show not to be missed!
Klopse Jol! – Thursday 12 November.
The enigmatic brothers Emo and Loukmaan Adams will join musical forces in Klopse Jol! with one of Cape Town`s top minstrel groups, a brilliant Cape Malay choir and a super-talented 10-piece band. There will also be appearances by special guest artists, including Nicoleen Saal, the winner of Maak My Famous, season 2 on kykNET, as well as Rjay and Lil-LK, who are well-known for the hit song “Wikkel.” This will be a unique extravaganza that will tickle your bones with the fun and flair of traditional Cape Town music.
PJ Powers in concert with the Tygerberg Children`s Choir – Saturday 14 November.
South African legend PJ Powers collaborates with The Tygerberg Children’s Choir in this very special show. Patrons can look forward to hits like ‘Welcome to Africa’, ‘The right to learn’, ‘Jabulani’, ‘The world in union’ and a mass choir rendition of ‘Shosholoza’. PJ is known for her larger than life, energetic performances and together with the most beautiful choir voices and an excellent band, this promises to be one of the highlights of the festival. The Tygerberg Children’s Choir is led by Karina Erasmus and the band consists of: Tigger Reunert (guitar), Schalk Joubert (bass), Rollins Mankge (keys), Kevin Gibson (drums)
According to professor Brian Figaji, chairman of the Suidoosterfees board, South African audiences are starving for theatre and music productions. Thanks to the support of the festival’s sponsors and Atlantic Studios, the drive-in theatre will offer a safe alternative to shows in indoor theatres. The initiative will provide artists with much-needed income. Drive-in patrons can also look forward to delicious ‘roadhouse’ fair, served from the kykNET ‘Kokkedoorstoor’.
More exciting Suidoosterfees-productions to look forward to are among others: Die Variety Show that skriks vir niks, Lottering in Lockdown, Koortjies met Jonathan Rubain and Lag my kla’. The first Afrikaans gospel television series, Koortjies met Jonathan Rubain, is one of the most popular programmes that has ever been broadcast on kykNET en Kie. The kykNET Atlantic Drive-in theatre offers the City of Cape Town the opportunity to celebrate the arts throroughly after the lockdown period. The city therefore welcomes art lovers from all over the province. Special packages are on offer to enable visitors from afar to share in top class entertainment. Hotel packages from City Lodge, which include breakfast and entry to the drive-in theatre for two persons, as well as ‘roadhouse’ dinner, are available at R1 600.
