Pinnacle Point wins prestigious international award!

The International golfing community not only declared Pinnacle Point Estate the best golf course in South Africa but also the best course in Africa at the annual World Golf Awards 2020, announced on the 29th of October!

In 2016 and 2017, Pinnacle Point Estate celebrated receiving the same award of South Africa’s Best Golf Course. The World Golf Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world-class courses and golf destinations. Now in its seventh year, the World Golf Awards is considered the most prestigious awards programme in the golf tourism industry. Hundreds of thousands of votes were cast online by professionals working within the golf travel and tourism industry – senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators, agents and media professionals, as well as golf enthusiasts – the public. The voting worked on a first-past-the-post system to ensure impartiality and independence.

Over and above celebrating excellence, the awards programme strives to stimulate the international golf tourism market and raise the golf tourist customer experience. The 2020 World Golf Awards focused on the leading nations who are shaping the future of this dynamic industry. Taking all of the current challenges into account, it is believed that this year’s winners are more deserving than ever before.

Pinnacle Point Estate went up against 26 of South Africa’s best golf courses, including Steyn City, Fancourt (Montagu), Pearl Valley, Arabella, Leopard Creek, Simola, De Zalze and Gary Player Country Club to name but a few, before claiming the prestigious title for the third time. “To win in South Africa and now in Africa is such an accomplishment and one cannot deny the feeling of absolute pride to be awarded this title. Our utmost thanks to everyone, who not only voted for us, but to the staff and management that made it all possible. The ultimate prize going forward, would be to claim the World’s Best Golf Course,” says Pinnacle Point Estate’s Golf Director, Quintin Byleveldt. The deserved winner for 2020, World’s Best Golf Course – Augusta National Golf Club.

Credit must be given to Quintin Byleveldt, the golfing staff, the Golf Committee, as well as the Pinnacle Point Estate team for ensuring players enjoy a golfing experience on par with other award-winning golfing destinations around the world. Celebrating a very successful year so far, the first-choice Pinnacle Point Estate also received gold for the second consecutive year as the Most Popular International Golf Course at the 19th annual Golf Journal Travel Awards 2020. The Golf Journal, based in Germany, celebrates the top golf courses, hotels and travel destinations from all over the world.

“With the World Golf Awards in the bag, it is easy to see why we have earned our reputation as one of the bucket list golf courses of the world. We look forward to welcoming many more local and international visitors to Pinnacle Point and giving them one of the most exhilarating golfing experiences of their lives at the certified best golf course in South Africa and Africa!” Pinnacle Point Estate General Manager, Carl van der Linde stated.
