Capell & Kotze propel Pacaltsdorp to premier league title

A devastating batting performance by their Garden Route Badgers batting heroes, Blayde Capell and Hanno Kotze, secured Pacaltsdorp United the Petersen Trophy as winners of the Six Gun Grill SWD Premier League title on Tuesday. 

Pacaltsdorp defeated Knysna Cavaliers by 8 wickets and became the title holders for the first time since 2008/09 after they have been promoted to the premier league at the beginning of the season.

The defending champion, Cavaliers who batted first posted a competitive 236/7 (in their allotted 50 overs) thanks to their tail-enders Quinton Visagie (30 from 49 balls; 2×4) and Blake Linder (40 from 31 balls; 1×6, 3×4).

Kotze scored a brilliant unbeaten century (112* from 71 balls; 4×6, 13×4) whilst Capell made 77 (from 73 balls; 3×6, 8×4) as they reached the target – 240/2 (after 31.4 overs).

KNYSNA CAVALIERS 237/7  – 50 overs (AB van der Walt 40, Keenan Vieira 36, Quinton Visagie 30, Blake Linder 40, Liabona Malifi 2/22)

PACALTSDORP UNITED 240/2 – 31.4  overs (Blayde Capell 77, Randy Wesso 35, Hanno Kotze 112*)
