The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers women’s team has concluded a perfect weekend against one of the powerhouses in South African women’s cricket when they also won the T20 match against the Fidelity Titans on Sunday.
The Badgers, after winning the 50-over match on Saturday, walked away with the honours with a 5-wicket victory after the target was adjusted following a rain interruption.
The Titans, who batted first, was in deep trouble at 7/3 in the 4th over but recovered thanks to a 62 runs partnership from 60 balls between Eliz-Mari Marx 46 (from 40 balls; 4×6, 2×4) and Nicolien Janse van Rensburg 38 (from 49 balls; 2×6). For the Badgers Miceala Andrews (2/11 in 4 overs) and Haroline Rhodes (3/27 in 4 overs) were the pick of the bowlers.
The run chase of the Badgers was built around another match winning performance by Tasmin Brits, who scored an unbeaten 53* from 34 balls (3×6, 3×4). Their innings was reduced to 17 overs due to the rain interruption and they surpassed the target (105/5) with 7 balls to spare after 15.5 overs.
