High-flying Garden Route Badgers women ready to end season on a high

The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers women’s team will be determined to end their successful 2022/23 campaign on a high when they host the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in the Cricket South Africa Top 6 women’s league competition at the Six Gun Grill Recreation Ground this weekend.

MARTELIZE VAN DER MERWE (COACH)

The Badgers, who were victorious in both their outings against the powerful Titans the past weekend will be confident to build on their successes in this competition. The team has grown immensely the past season and has also cemented a place in next years top tier competition.

Coach, Martelize van der Merwe and her troops will be determined at home turf after they suffered defeats in both the 50-over and T20 matches against their opposition from the East Coast at Kingsmead in Durban in December.  The Badgers (151 all out) lost by 3 wickets against the Dolphins (152/7 in 36.4 overs) in their previous limited over encounter at Kingsmead and also lost the T20 match by 20 runs after the Dolphins posted 166/2 and the Badgers responded with 146/5.  The limited over match will be played on Saturday and the T20 match on Sunday.  Visitors to the KKNK is encouraged to support the local team.  Entrance will be free.

The Badgers squad for the weekend is: Annerie Dercksen, Amber Botha, Asakhe Nyovane, Bianca Figeland, Haroline Rhodes, Janè Winster, Julandi Saayman, Khayakazi Mathe, Mieke de Ridder, Micaéla Andrews, Mariana Breedt, Tazmin Brits, Pelokazi Majambe and Marnezelle Rabie
