A new SWD Cricket Twenty20 champion will be crowned this weekend after Pacaltsdorp United knocked out the defending champions, Knysna Cavaliers, at the second semi-final that was played at the Recreation Ground on Sunday.
The semi-finals were moved to the reserve day after both the scheduled matches for Saturday were abandoned due to heavy rain and a subsequent wet outfield. Pacaltsdorp will meet Union Stars I in the final that will be played at the REC Ground this coming weekend.
Pacaltsdorp United, who posted a competitive 187/6 thanks to a half-century by Blayde Capell dismissed Knysna Cavaliers in the last of their allotted 20 overs for 133 runs for a 54 runs victory. For Pacaltsdorp Warren Bell bagged 5/11.
In the other semi-final Union Stars II was cruising to a victory but after Herschell America (3/24) dismissed Jean Heunis on 48 they crumbled to 134 all out. Earlier Union Stars I posted 141/8 thanks to Kelly Smuts who contributed with 54.
