Jean du Plessis stamped his authority

The captain of the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers, Jean du Plessis, stamped his authority on the bigger stage with an impressive batting performance for the SA ‘A’ team.  The 24-year old du Plessis, who received a call-up to the SA ‘A’ team for the inbound India ‘A’ tour last week grasp the opportunity to impress the national selectors with a century and half-century.

In the tour match that was played at the JB Marx Oval in Potchefstroom du Plessis excelled with century (106 from 213 balls) in their first innings when the home side posted 319 all out.  In the second innings he followed it up with an unbeaten (50* from 82 balls) as the home side reached 152/2 in a match that ended in a draw.  No play was possible on the first day of the match after a rain interruption.
