The past weekend was a disappointing one for the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers women’s team as they suffered back-to-back defeats against their Western Province opponents in Oudtshoorn.
In the one-day encounter that was played on Saturday the Badgers were dismissed for a modest 115 whereafter the visitors only needed 30 overs to reach the target – 116/4 – for a 6 wicket victory.
In the T20 match on Sunday the Badgers restricted Western Province to 129/7 in their allotted 20 overs. In their run-chase Annerie Dercksen fought a lonely battle when she posted a brilliant unbeaten 106 from 66 balls and hitting 5×6 and 11×4. She however received no support from her fellow batters as the Badgers ended on 123/8 – a defeat by 6 runs.
