Fine victory for Garden Route Badgers Academy

The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers, last week at NMU in George, defeated the Fort Hare Academy by 239 runs in a three day match.

The Badgers, who batted first, posted 441 (all out) thanks to centuries by Kyle Jacobs (158) and Heath Richards (102).  Fort Hare was dismissed for 232 runs in their first innings with Tyrece Karelse (3/20) and Enathi Kitshini (3/37) the pick of the bowlers.  The Badgers declared their second innings at 167/4 with Richards (55*) and Jacobs (43) that were again the top scorers.  Stefan May posted 42.  Being set a target of 377 to Fort Hare, Arend Visser excelled with 7/25 while Liviwe Bawuli (2/8) provided valuable support as the Badgers won by 239 runs.

This victory was valuable preparation for the Badgers Colts team who will take on Boland in a Three- and One-Day match in Paarl this weekend.  The Badgers squad for the weekend is:

Matthew Christensen, Mark Andrianatos, Stefan May, Hayden Sweet (Captain), Heath Richards, Liyabona Malefi, Joof Enslin, Arend Visser, Grant Esau, Mesuli Vuba, Enathi Khitshini, Thurstin Murphy and Jarred Jardine.
