Badgers bid farewell to Hanno Kotze

The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers on Sunday bid farewell to long-serving player, Hanno Kotze, who will retire from cricket at the end of the month.

The 29-year old Kotze, who made his first class debut for SWD on 5 December 2013 – as a 19-year old – against Griqualand West, will exchange the life of a professional cricket player for the corporate world as from March, 1st 2024.

In total he played 49 first class matches (2,142 runs), 59 List A matches (1,441 runs) and 28 T20 matches (662 runs).  During his first-class career he also spent two seasons for Boland and during that time he represented the Cape Cobras.

“ Hanno arrived at SWD as a 18-year old student at the Nelson Mandela University in George and as a teenager played himself into the SWD team.  He was a loyal and popular player who earned respect both on and off the field with a devastating reputation with the bat in the white-ball format”, commented SWD Cricket CEO, Albertus Kennedy.  “We wish him all the best with his future endeavors”, he concluded.
