The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers colts team had mixed success against their Boland opponents in the Cricket SA Provincial Colts competition.
In a series of matches that was hosted at Boland Park in Paarl the Boland won the three day match from the last ball of the match after they successfully chased a target of 176 – from 35 overs – with two wickets in hand. Hayden Sweet, the skipper of the Badgers, excelled with the bat with contributions of 80 in both the first and second innings. Liyabona Malife (6/91) and (3/47) bagged nine wickets in the match.
In the 50-over match of Sunday the Badgers amassed 257/7 thanks to half-centuries by Matthew Christensen (89) and Heath Richards (55). Thanks to a match winning bowling performance by Grant Esau (3/29) and Malife (4/49) the Boland was dismissed for 176 as the Badgers won by 81 runs.
