The scintillating batting form of the captain of the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers, Jean du Plessis, continued the past weekend.
Du Plessis who was representing the Boland as a loan player in the Cricket SA Division 1 four-day competition against the Lions at the Wanderers scored 120 (194 balls; 3×6; 11×4) in the second innings of the Boland and in the process enable Boland to secure a draw. In the first innings he was dismissed for only 15.
His century of the weekend was his 5th first class century of the season and included a century for the SA ‘A’ team against India in Potchefstroom during December last year. He also scored a double century (201) for the Garden Route Badgers against the Eastern Cape Iianyathi in a four-day match in Oudtshoorn.
In List A (One Day) cricket he scored two centuries for the Badgers the past season.
