The South Western Districts Cricket Umpires Association held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) that was succeeded with an awards function at the Rooirivier-rif Cricket Club House in George last week.
At the AGM Mario Jansen (Chairman) and Luzuko Mralasi (Vice-Chairman) was elected unopposed as the leadership for the next three years.
The recipients of awards were:
Lyndon Volkwyn and Nathan Rhodes received special merit awards for officiating in various CSA National tournaments. Volkwyn, Rhodes, Mralasi and also received their qualification as CSA Accredited trainers.
Two members who excelled during the past year that could not be present were André Olivier and Kerrin Klaaste who are both CSA panel umpires.
Olivier officiated in the CSA Division 2 Four-Day competition-, One Day Cup and Twenty 20 finals. Klaasen officiated as a CSA Panel umpire (Reserve List) Appointed to the CSA Reserve Panel of Umpires, made my international Women’s ODI and T20 Debut in the South Africa VS New Zealand ODI and T20 series, officiated in the South Africa VS Bangladesh Women’s ODI and T20 series, officiated in the South Africa VS Sri Lanka Women’s ODI and T20 series (the first international women’s series in South Africa where a neutral, female umpire has been appointed), officiated in the Triangular T20 series between South Africa, India and Afghanistan’s U19 men’s teams, officiated in the ICC T20 Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi and officiated in the semi-final and final of the ICC T20 Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi.
