Bringing with her extensive experience and a passion for transformative leadership, Mrs Heliza Mentoor is eager to make a meaningful impact on the communities of the Garden Route and Central Karoo. With 20 years of service as a dedicated public servant, more than 10 of which have been in senior management, she has a proven track record in health system strengthening, governance, and people-centered service delivery. She is committed to fostering collaborative, innovative, and responsive healthcare solutions.
“We are, first and foremost, public stewards, and I believe that every decision we make must be rooted in integrity, accountability, and a deep commitment to the well-being of our people,” she affirms.
Mrs Mentoor has held multiple senior leadership roles in the Northern Cape Department of Health, including Director: Head of Pharmaceutical Services and Director of District Health Services, where she championed strategic reforms, system improvements, and community-driven health initiatives. A qualified pharmacist with a strong background in business administration and health management, she believes in continuous learning and is currently pursuing her MBA to further enhance her leadership capabilities.
“I am deeply invested in engaging with communities, understanding their needs, and co-creating solutions that improve access, quality, and efficiency in health services. My goal is to cultivate an environment where our teams feel empowered, valued, and inspired to drive meaningful change,” she adds.
Having relocated from Kimberley, she looks forward to immersing herself in the unique landscape and dynamics of the districts, ensuring that healthcare services are not just functional but truly impactful. Her vision for the district and healthcare services as a whole is embodied in her guiding principle:
