Six Gun Grill SWD Cricket League results

Pacaltsdorp United (173/6) on Saturday surpassed Union Stars I (169 all out) at the Six Gun Grill SWD Premier league log with a 4 wickets bonus point victory at the Bridgton Sport Grounds.

Stars I was dismissed for a modest 169 whereafter the visitors thanks to a match winning 5th wicket partnership 103 of runs (124 balls; 1×6 and 10×4) between the experienced Le-Roi Bredenkamp 65* and Pieter Stuurman (49) reached the target in the 37th over.

Sussex (139/3), at home at the D’Almeida Cricket Ground in Mossel Bay, consolidated their position at the top of the table with a 7-wicket victory against Union Stars II (138 all out).  For Sussex Hanno Kotze (50*), Randle Otto (43) excelled with the bat whilst Ravin Lee Kemmies was impressive with the ball with figures of 3/19.

Knysna Cavaliers (199 all out) was victorious in the Bitou derby with a 54 runs victory against Plett Pioneers (145 all out).  JP Ellis with a fine all-round performance – 48 with the bat and 3/41 with the ball was the outstanding player for Cavaliers whilst Dandrick Moodien bagged 5/19 for Pioneers.

RECORD RUN CHASE FOR NEW DAWN PARK TO WIN PROMOTION LEAGUE 

New Dawn Park on Saturday recorded a record run chase to win the Six Gun Grill SWD Promotion league and will be promoted to the Premier League next season.

They defeated Mossel Bay by 2 wickets and 5 balls to spare to record the highest run chase in a promotion league final.

Mossel Bay, who batted first, scored 244/8 in their allotted 50 overs with half centuries by Tony Ferreira (86*) and Zayed Jacobs (55).

In their run chase Mossel Bay had New Dawn Park against the ropes at 120/6 (in the 29th over) but a match winning partnership of 86 runs (99 balls, 7×4 and 3×6) between Leegan Moos (109) and Marvin Stoffels (51) were vital enable New Park to reach the winning target 248/8 (49.1 overs).

Moos was in brilliant form with the bat – he scored his match winning 109 from 127 balls and hit 2×6 and 9×4.

KNYSNA CAVALIERS WON WOMEN’S DIVISION 2 TITLE 

Knysna Cavaliers, on Sunday, won the Women’s Division 2 T20 title with a comprehensive 91 runs victory against Plett Pioneers.

Cavaliers, who batted first posted 124 whereafter they dismissed Pioneers for 33.  This was the third season in a row where Pioneers lost in the final.

For Cavaliers Kemrodiene Swartz (57 not out with the bat) and (3/9 with the ball) excelled with a fine all-round performance.

KEENAN ARRIES STRUCK 227 IN LEAGUE MATCH 

Keenan Arries – 227 from 157 balls; 8×6, 29×4 – was the hero in the past weekend’s Reserve league competition.  He struck this double century for Union Stars B (378/8) in their reserve league victory of 274 runs against Dysselsdorp (104 all out).
