It was another disappointing weekend for the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers women’s team in the Cricket South Africa Hollywoodbets Professional competition.
Nicolien Janse van Rensburg and her team suffered consecutive defeats in both the Pro 50 (lost by 168 runs) and Pro20 (lost by 23 runs) against the Titans in Oudtshoorn.
In the Pro50 match the Badgers had the Titans against the ropes at 28/3 but a well-played century by their international star, Suné Luus (110*; 109 balls, 8×4, 1×6) with good support from Gandi Jaftha (60) allowed the Titans to score a total of 250/5 to pave their way for a victory.
In the Pro20 match the Badgers did well to restrict the Titans to 123/8 and after a sound start the Badgers with their score at 70/1 whereafter they lost the plot and ended on 100/9.
The Badgers will now have a steep hill to climb when they take on the strong team of the Lions in Oudtshoorn this weekend.
