Ground-breaking trophy for Beaufort West

Beaufort West Cricket Club on Saturday recording a ground braking trophy victory for cricket in the Central Karoo.  Beaufort West (219/9) defeated Sussex ‘B’ (218 all out) in a pulsating Reserve Division 2 final at the REC Ground by one wicket with one ball to spare.

The big hero for Beaufort West was Carlton Rasmus who scored a magnificent unbeaten 111* (85 balls; 7×6; 7×4) to take his team over the line.

Duncan Scheepers, the captain of Beaufort West, received the trophy as winners of the Reserve Division 2 competition from Mr Micheal Eksteen (the President of SWD Cricket)

For Sussex it was a heart-braking defeat after they scored a competitive 218.  The D’Almeida based club was also the runners-up in the Premier League.
