An Eleventh Year of International Blue Flags for Offshore Adventures!

Plettenberg Bay, South Africa – Offshore Adventures is thrilled to announce that it has once again been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag Boat status, marking an outstanding 11th consecutive year of international recognition. This significant achievement further solidifies Offshore Adventures’ unwavering dedication to environmentally responsible tourism, exceptional safety, and community engagement in Plettenberg Bay.

As a premier operator offering marine safaris and seal swimming experiences at the iconic Robberg Nature Reserve and Marine Protected Area, Offshore Adventures continues to offer a memorable ocean experience for discerning travellers. The company is one of only a select few tourism boats in South Africa to receive this coveted international eco-label and proudly remains the only Blue Flag accredited boat operator in Plett.

The Blue Flag programme is managed locally by the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA). WESSA will celebrate 100 years of conservation  in 2026 and was recently honoured by the 2025 Eco-Logic Awards with two awards, a recognition of their long-standing – 99 year – commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism in South Africa.

Blue Flag is a globally recognised eco-label awarded to beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators. Achieving Blue Flag status demands strict adherence to rigorous criteria spanning environmental management, education, safety, and accessibility. This includes actively working to minimise environmental impact, promoting marine awareness, ensuring the highest standards of passenger safety, and providing accessible experiences for everyone.

Commitment to Community and Conservation

Offshore Adventures remains deeply committed to the local community by prioritising employment and training opportunities for residents and supporting local small businesses through their retail store. The company proudly employs a significant portion of its staff from the surrounding community, which strengthens the local economy and fosters a shared sense of ownership for the area’s natural treasures.

Furthermore, Offshore Adventures actively collaborates with several key local conservation organisations, including Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness and Rehabilitation CentreCapeNaturePlett Ocean Smart, and Discover Eden. These vital partnerships involve offering logistical support, contributing to educational outreach, and assisting with essential research initiatives aimed at protecting the region’s unique and diverse marine environment.

“Receiving Blue Flag status for both of our boats for the 2025/2026 season is an honour,” says owner, Jaco Kruger. “This milestone, now in our eleventh year, is a clear reflection of our team’s deep-seated commitment to sustainable tourism, responsible wildlife interaction, and actively supporting our local community through employment, education, and conservation. We firmly believe that responsible tourism is crucial for safeguarding our precious marine environment for future generations.”

Offshore Adventures also extends its sincere congratulations to Bitou Municipality for the continued maintenance of Blue Flag status for six of its beaches and for the repeated recognition with the Green Coast award for Nature’s Valley.
