Sussex, on Saturday, made a big statement in the SWD premier league competition with a 101 bonus point victory against Pacaltsdorp United as the two powerhouses lock horns on Saturday. Sussex – after posted 201 – thanks to a fine knock by Lindle Trim (64) whereafter the home team (at D’Almeida) dismissed Pacaltsdorp United for 100 with Franco Geldenhuys bagging 4/21.
George (137 all out), despite of a half century by Neil Jordan (85) lost by 7 wickets against Knysna Cavaliers (138/3) at Loerie Park. The captain JP Ellis – 3/17 with the ball – and 45 with the bat – was the hero for Cavaliers.
Union Stars I (126/7), at the Bridgton Sport Grounds, consolidated their position at the top of the log with a 3-wicket victory against their Oudtshoorn neighbors, Harlequins Forces (125 all out). Lee Henry Meyer (4/36) was the top wicket taker for Union Stars I.
Union Stars II (138 all out) won by 38 runs against New Dawn Park (115 all out). For Union Stars II Elridge Booysen (60) with the bat and Jean Bruiners (6/19 with the ball) were the stand-out players.
