The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) invites residents of George and surrounding areas, and holiday makers to join an exciting four-day celebration of community, creativity, and connection at the inaugural George Festival, taking place from 13 to 16 December 2025. Festivals like this create jobs and pump millions of rand into local economies, supporting families from across the region.
This first-of-its-kind event in George brings together sport, music, art, and heritage, creating a shared platform where families, youth, and visitors can experience the joy and unity that define the Western Cape.
Western Cape Provincial Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Ricardo Mackenzie, said the festival reflects the Department’s vision to make culture and sport accessible to all by ensuring that all regions of the Western Cape have regional festivals which in turn contribute to economic growth in the region and support for cultural producers.
“We are bringing art, music, culture, and sport together in a way George has never seen before. This festival is a proper celebration of who we are, vibrant, diverse, and full of spirit. From live performances and markets to 5-a-side soccer, Indigenous Games, and family activities, there is something for everyone,” said Minister Mackenzie.
Most activities are free of charge, ensuring that all members of the community can participate.
