The Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs) in the Bitou area participated in a World TB Day community event on 24 March, aimed at raising awareness about the disease. The event took place at the KwaNokuthula Community Day Centre, where community members gathered to learn more about TB prevention and overall health practices.
During the session, GRDM EHPs Zoleka Goniwe, Nokuphiwa Mbali, and Sophia Marthinus, together with representatives from the Department of Social Development and the South African Social Security Agency, shared their roles in protecting public health. The discussions focused on promoting hygiene, preventing the spread of disease, and encouraging healthier lifestyle practices within the community.
The session was interactive and well received by the community, contributing to increased awareness and encouraging healthier daily practices.
Other stakeholders present included Hospice Plett Aid, Plett Aid Foundation, the Department of Health KwaNokuthula, as well as Environmental Health Practitioners from GRDM’s Bitou office.
