CSA announces dates for national youth tournaments

Cricket South Africa (CSA) recently announced the dates of their national youth cricket tournaments that will be hosted in December this year.

The Khaya Majola u/19 tournament will be hosted in Potchefstroom 18-22 December and the u/19 Girls tournament in Paarl from 16-20 December.  As part of a national school’s review process, new age-group tournaments for u/16 boys and girls will be introduced.  The boy’s u/16 national tournament (Pretoria) and girls’ u/16 national tournament (Gqeberha – formerly Port Elizabeth) will take place from 13-17 December.

As part of the review process national tournaments for u/13’s and u/15’s were scheduled but Cricket South Africa, in a correspondence letter that was circulated on 30 August 2021, confirmed the cancellation of all regional festivals that were planned for December 2021.  The prevailing Covid pandemic was at the forefront of these decisions and the safety of all participants was ultimately the overriding factor in these decisions.

The tournaments that were cancelled are u/13 weeks to be held in Cape Town (12-15 December) and u/15 weeks in Stellenbosch (16-19 December).  The regional girls u/15 girls tournament to be held in Cape Town from 12-15 December and the u/13 girls week scheduled for Oudtshoorn from 16-18 December were all cancelled.
